At this animal sanctuary, visitors can join a 2-hour tour to meet the rescued residents and learn their heartwarming stories. The tours offer a unique opportunity to connect with a variety of species and gain insights into their individual personalities and characteristics. While guests of all ages are welcome to experience the joy of animal companionship, the sanctuary requests that groups with children under 12 have at least one adult for every two children, for the safety of all involved.

Located in the scenic hills of east Hawaii’s Big Island, just outside of Laupahoehoe, the sanctuary is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. After booking a tour, guests will receive an immediate confirmation email, followed by a second email the night before their scheduled visit with the sanctuary’s exact location and other final details. Get ready to be enchanted by the residents’ unique personalities and create memories that will last a lifetime!

We are very busy taking care of our creatures so tight scheduling is important.

REFRESH BEFORE ARRIVAL

There are no public restrooms or concessions at the sanctuary, so please show up ready-to-tour. The two closest public restrooms are the Minit Stop on Highway 19 (just downhill from us) and the Country Store in Papaaloa (next village over towards Hilo).

TOURS HAPPEN RAIN OR SHINE

…and sometimes both! However, tours may cancel for extreme weather, or if our driveway is flooded. Please check the forecast on tour day and dress accordingly.

GROUP SIZES ARE LIMITED

A maximum of 10 people—big and small—allows us to keep all humans and animals safe and free to enjoy each other’s company.

DURING YOUR VISIT

Once at the sanctuary please remember you are visiting the animals in their home. Treat all residents with respect and courtesy. Don’t lift or restrain any animal, all interactions are on the animal’s initiative. Some animals have free run of the sanctuary, but please don’t approach any animals without checking with staff. Children must be supervised at all times.
