Very interesting to learn about the deep sea salt farming process, which is the only one on the Big Island, and one of the only sea salt farms which takes water from 2200 feet deep, meaning it is much more rich in minerals.

The foot soak was bracing! But my feet feel less sore, so it did it’s job lol.

If you like salt, this is the place to come. You’ll learn how they make it using deep sea water pumped in from 2200 feet below sea level. You’ll see and taste a variety of salt on this tour. They have a ton of different salts including orange, onion, garlic, and a spicy one. They have a great view of the water. This is very much a small business so take a quick 45-minute tour and support them. Make your reservation online.

We visited in November and truly enjoyed our tour with Candy. She was clearly very passionate about the history and work of Kona Sea Salt Farm and we learned a lot from her. I was particularly excited to find out the farm is women-run! We will never forget our experience here, especially tasting the fresh sea water piped directly from the deep ocean. I highly recommend taking a tour if you’re on the Big Island and want to learn about the past, present, and future importance of salt and the sea
